Jim and Becky Mullane trucked all of their orchard equipment up from New Mexico in hopes that they would find a place to put down their roots in western Wisconsin. They found it in Cadott.
The Mullane’s have begun to plant their apples at Dixon’s Apple Orchard. They ran a family orchard in New Mexico that had been in their family for 70 years. Continuing the family-run tradition, Becky’s father and their three children help out on the land, getting the apples planted and then tending to them.
Among the trees planted is the Champagne Apple, which you won’t find anywhere else. Becky’s father found in growing wild down in the canyon, and the Mullane’s took grafts off of their trees and had them incubated in a nursery until they could plant them.
Jim and Becky encourage everyone to come and take a stroll around the orchard.
